New Machine Concepts

Linear motors, motorised spindles and torque motors, when combined with concepts such as parallel kinematics, give machine tool builders greater scope to innovate than ever before.

Customers want continual improvement in part accuracy, surface finish and productivity. Advances in metal cutting technology and tooling also enables increased machining speeds. These place new demands on machine tool structures requiring better dynamic stiffness, lower masses and faster movements.

CNC Design works closely with the Siemens machine tool technology group and can strongly support your design team with tools for new machine simulation and development.

Mechatronic Support

Machine Simulation

Design and optimisation of new machines tools was previously the domain of the mechanical designer. In an expensive and time consuming process, a prototype was developed and a number of machines built before the final production version was fully developed.

Siemens mechatronic support team offers a service for full simulation of machine tool and drives before manufacture. The machine builder can now develop a software model using standard 3D CAD software and the Mechatronics Team can work with this to test and optimise it before going into production, saving money and reducing the development time.

Optimisation

Testing of existing machines at your site involves a full anaysis of the dynamic performance, stiffness, resonance, positioning capability etc. CNC Design provide a comprehensive report with recommendations on ways to improve and optimise your machine performance.
