Head of Siemens A&D Motion Control Systems
In January 2003, Dr. Siegfried Russwurm (39) will take over
as the new head of the Motion Control Systems Division at
Siemens Automation and Drives (A&D). The previous President,
Aubert Martin, took over management at Siemens Energy &
Automation (SE&A), Alpharetta, USA, on July 1. SE&A
is responsible for the US business activities of the Siemens
A&D and I&S groups. Russwurm has headed the Electromedical
Systems Division of Siemens Medical Solutions since 1999 and
currently manages Siemens Elema AB in Solna, Sweden.
Siegfried Russwurm was born in 1963 in Marktgraitz, Germany.
After studying production engineering, he received his doctorate
in 1991 at the University of Nuremberg/Erlangen. In 1992,
he started at Siemens Medical Engineering as project head
for the production of electromechanical components at Kemnath,
Germany. From 1995 to 1996, he was Director of Manufacturing
in the Angiography and Roentgen Systems Division of Siemens
Medical Engineering at its sites in Erlangen, Forchheim, Kemnath,
and Dresden. Within the scope of the reorganization of Siemens
Medical Engineering, he presided over the creation of the
Medical Components Division in 1996. This division combines
the development and production of hardware components for
the Medical Engineering divisions and for the OEM business.
Russwurm transferred to Sweden in 1999.
The Siemens Automation and Drives Group (A&D), Nuremberg/Erlangen,
Germany, is the leading manufacturer in this field worldwide.
Products supplied by A&D include standard products for
the manufacturing and process industries and for the electrical
installation industry as well as system solutions, for example
for machine tools, and solutions for whole industries such
as the automation of entire automobile factories or chemical
plants. Supplementing this range of products and services,
A&D also offers software for linking production and management
(horizontal and vertical IT integration) and for optimizing
production processes. A&D employs 51,200 people worldwide
and in fiscal year 2002 (to September 30) earned a pre-tax
profit of €723 million on sales of €8.6 billion
and orders of €8.7 billion.
