1FW3 - New Compact Torque Motor from Siemens

Technical Specification of 1FW3 Torque Motor...

1FW3 torque motors are high torque low speed permanent magnet synchronous AC motors designed to replace standard electrical drives comprising an electric motor, gearbox and belt connection. They are also suitable for replacing hydraulic motors.

Applications requiring a torque range of between 200Nm and 7000Nm (power ratings 8 to 146kW) at variable speeds up to 400 or 500 rpm are where the 1FW3 shines and our Masterdrive MC AC servo drive is the perfect partner (you need version 2).

1FW3 complete torque motors eliminate time-consuming installation and mounting procedures. This is because this drive solution reduces the number of components which have to be mounted in the assembly phase. The hollow shaft allows you to implement more flexible mechanical design and maintenance concepts. The 1FW3 plays a significant role in increasing the reliability and cost-effective use of your production machines.

  • Direct drive with no backlash.
  • Silent running with no fan and no gearbox or belt noise.
  • Integrated direct measuring system (multi pole resolver, 1Vpp encoder or EnDat absolute) for accurate measurement.
  • Dramatically reduced size due to water cooling.
  • High torque from zero speed to rated speed (250/200 rpm) and typically 50% of rated torque at 2 x rated speed.
  • Higher dynamic performance due to very low inertia
  • Extremely easy to direct mount - hollow shaft eliminates cost of mounting and supporting frame necessary for foot mounted motor.
  • Dramatically lower current rating enables cost saving for servo drive  and reduces cable sizes.
  • Water cooling eliminates need for ducted cooling systems for machines in damp areas.
