Automation package for tubular bag machines

At the Fachpack 2003 from October 8 - 10 in Nuremberg, Siemens Automation and Drives (A&D) will be presenting its new product line for vertical tubular bag machines. Siemens A&D offers the manufacturers of packaging machines an attractive all-in-one solution with preconfigured software modules for standard tasks. Standardized diagnostic tools also make it possible for machine operators to reduce their service and maintenance costs.

Siemens A&D will be introducing two basic packages, one for continuous and one for intermittent tubular bag machines. In both cases, the hardware contains all essential components, such as power supply, controller, drives (feed and power circuits), I/O, bus connector, and HMI unit. The Simotion D motion control system makes it possible to program PLC and motion control on one device. The packages include the required runtime licenses.

Machine equipment such as cross-sealing units can be automated with the aid of the modular software library for tubular bag machines. In order to ensure compliance with the new OMAC (Open Modular Architecture Controls) guidelines, Siemens developed a software module for the machine's operating states. The relevant production data, correspondingly structured, are made available to the higher-level MES systems.

The operator interface contains screen forms for standard tasks (such as temperature control, Jog mode or diagnostics) as well as interfaces for machine-specific adaptations. This makes it possible to perform commissioning and service tasks, for example zero offset following readjustment of the reference sensor, without using the engineering system.
