CNC Shopfloor Manufacturing for Increased Machine Flexibility

At the EMO 2003 show, Siemens Automation and Drives (A&D) will present innovations covering all aspects of the JobShop graphical control and programming software packages for machine tools: ShopMill, ShopTurn and ManualTurn. The focus will be on functions for increasing the flexibility and efficiency of the machines.

The multiple clamping function is one of the innovations in ShopMill. To boost productivity, several vises can be installed in the machine. The Sinumerik control automatically optimizes the tool sequence and thus reduces unnecessary machining idle times. This makes it possible to use the easy-to-understand work plan programming method for creating machining programs on machines with reversible clamps.

The JobShop software packages for the Sinumerik 810D/840D are platforms for the globally established CNC graphical programming methods for use at the machine and/or PC, and for G Code programming at the machine. The same operator interface provides not only the graphical work plan programming method, but also a complete programming environment for the DIN/ISO programming demanded especially in the US and Asia. The familiar, easily comprehensible setup functions of the JobShop products can also be used for DIN/ISO programs. (09/2003)
