In Siemens linear motors
the forces are directly transferred which results in the highest
dynamic performance but at the same time with high precision
- almost without play and without overshooting. All of this
is achieved without the motor components being subject to
mechanical wear and without jerky motion.

Siemens 1FN linear
motors offer enhanced dynamic response and speed
significantly. Velocities up to 370m/min and accelerations
of up to 45g are theoretically possible. In practice, today's
machines already reach feedrates of 100m/min and accelerations
of 1.5g. Siemens 1FN linear motors offer:
- Outstanding dynamic response and very high traversing
velocity due simple construction without transmission elements
such as ballscrew drive, coupling or belt.
- Excellent precision due to the extensive avoidance of
the elasticity effects, play friction as well as natural
oscillation in the drive train. If suitable measuring systems
are used and the temperature conditions are appropriate,
the motors can be positioned in the nanometer range.
- Simple installation.
- Effective cooling design due to Thermo-Sandwich dual-circuit
cooling system (integral in 1FN1, optional for 1FN3) permits
both a thermal decoupling of the motor from the machine.
Available version:
1FN1 Series for driving light loads
with uniform velocity upto 95 m/min, maximum force from 1720N
to 14500N. The permissible temperature increase at the mechanical
interface to the machine limited to 2K.
1FN3 Series for driving accelerating loads as a result
of high ratio between peak and continuous loads. Velocity
upto 370 m/min with maximum force from 550 to 20700N. The
permissible temperature increase at the mechanical interface
to the machine can be extended to 4K with optional cooling
precision.
Typical Application
- Machine Tools including: Machining centers (HSC), Lathes,
Grinding machines, Punching/cutting machine, Laser-cutting
machines
- Machines for processing wood /glass / plastics
- Interlinking, handling, robotics
- Electronics production (pick-and-place, bonders) and
PCB production (drilling, milling)
- Printing technology
- Measuring machine
