 Ethernet
Switchers
ELM (Electrical Link Module) and OLM (Optical Link Module)
are used when configuri ng ethernet network topology based
on electrical connection (twisted pair cables) or optical
connection (fiber optics) up to 10 Mbit/s. For fast ethernet
connection up to 100Mbit/s, the OSM (Optical Swiches Module)
and ESM (Electrical Switches Module) are used instead. All
modules are available with ITP and RJ45 interfaces.
 Communication
Processor (CP)
CPs are used as the interfaces between PLC CPUs in S7 SIMATIC
and other devices over industrial Ethernet bus. Each CP has
its own processor, they off-load the CPU by taking charge
of communication tasks while also providing the resources
for additional communication links. CP 343-1/CP443-1 are used
for S7 300/400 PLC CPUs
